Aussiedoodles and Australian Mountain Doodles Colors

Sable

A Sable coat consists of black-tipped hairs; the rest of the hair can be gold to yellow, silver, grey, or tan. The darkness of the coat depends on how much of each hair is black versus the lighter color.

Phantom

A Phantom is a solid base color with sharply defined markings of a second color appearing above each eye, on the sides of the muzzle, on the throat or chest, on all four legs and feet, and below the tail. Any combination of acceptable colors is allowed.

Merle

A Merle coat is a single color (black or brown) with a gene modifier which creates darker patches on a diluted base coat color. This includes Blue or Chocolate Merle accompanied by white markings on the face, chest, feet, and tail with or without tan points that can present themselves on the snout/cheeks, above the eyes, chest, legs, and rear. Merles can also come with little to no white markings and can have Phantom marking on the snout/cheeks, above the eyes, chest, legs, and rear.

Tuxedo

A tuxedo doodle will have very special markings in certain areas that literally remind you of a tuxedo. There will be a white bib. This is color on the chest, it may or may not wrap all the way around the dog’s neck. A white belly,  should touch the bib, making a continuous white area white that extends from the belly down to the front and hind legs and paws. While this is the preferred look of a tuxedo doodle, some will only have white that extends down the front legs, some will have a disconnection of the bib to belly, others may have white markings on the head.

Abstract

Abstract is a term that means a doodle of any color that has white markings on the feet, head, tail, stomach or chest of the dog. These markings are random and do not follow any set pattern. This is different than tuxedo in that it does not follow they same pattern and create the full tuxedo marking. They can also be referred to as mismatched.

With all puppies there is a chance that their color may fade; here are a few examples of puppies that have changed.
